Video: building a green and prosperous UK needs cement

Whether it is delivering renewable energy generation networks or building low-carbon water and transport infrastructure, the UK cannot reach net zero without cement. As one of the main ingredients in concrete, the most used construction material in the world, cement is essential to getting energy projects built.

But as the Chancellor of the Exchequer has outlined, where things are made, and who makes them, matters. Using homegrown cement ensures a secure supply of sustainable materials, supports high-quality, well-paid jobs, and boosts the economy across all four nations of the UK. A preference for domestically produced cement when developing the next generation of energy infrastructure projects would enable the UK to make the most of the growth opportunity available and retain the economic and social benefits on our shores.
